7. Bitter & Twisted
This next bar has been one of my favorites! They have 246 DRINK OPTIONS (drinks change seasonally)! If you’re indecisive, this might not be your best spot! Bitter & Twisted was rated as one of the TOP bars in Arizona! When I make my way here, I love to order the charred broccolini and the smoked pulled pork sliders.
The ambiance gives a dark-lighting aesthetic with relaxed and casual vibes. I recommend this spot if you love exploring cocktails. Whether you plan to go with friends or take yourself on a solo date, the best seats are at the bar!
8. Little Rituals
Phoenix is really stepping up the drinking scene, and one bar in particular that I keep returning to is Little Rituals! In 2023, they were listed as one of the Best Hotel Bars in America.
Little Rituals in downtown Phoenix offers a cute, trendy ambiance perfect for a night out. Its dark-lighting aesthetic and relaxed atmosphere provide a casual and inviting setting to enjoy creative cocktails. Whether you’re going with friends or on a solo date, the best seats are at the bar, where you can fully immerse yourself in the experience.
9. Century Grand Phoenix
Century Grand in Phoenix takes your cocktail experience to another level! At Century Grand, you’ll find two different bar concepts, Platform 18 & Grey Hen Rx. Both bars have an exciting backstory that intertwines with each bar’s unique vibe! A friendly tip: neither bar serves any food. I recommend stopping at the nearby restaurants to grab a bite and make sure to reserve a table in advance (walk-ins are welcome).
Platform 18
Prepare yourself to board Platform 18, which will take you back in time in a glamorous Presidential Pullman-inspired train car! This experience is so unreal! When you step in, you’ll find yourself on a virtual 90-minute train ride through the Louisiana Bayou with your host, Hollis Cottley Pennington, a railroad tycoon and bootlegger.
Grey Hen Rx
New Orleans is known as the first city to establish and license a professional pharmacist. These apothecaries were really respected by their communities and were usually the first people folks went to for advice and remedies, regardless of their social status. Century Grand has revamped the Grey Hen Rx to resemble New Orleans in the Prohibition era! Their whiskey library has around 500 bottles to select from!
10. Pigtails
Last on the list is a speakeasy-style cocktail and seafood bar located in Cityscape in downtown Phoenix! This gem is a perfect place to go on a date, meet up with old friends, or hang out after hours! Finding it can be a little tricky if it’s your first time! Look for an unmarked door next to the Cuban bar. Once you enter, it feels like you are transported to a beautiful bar. Drinks were inexpensive similar to what you would pay at other restaurants. A few favorites are the Born Sinner, Cupid’s Dagger, and Once in a Melon.
Make sure to pair your drinks with their excellent food menu like the half-shell oysters with mignonette, hot sauce, horseradish, and lemon wedges. Or, my favorite, the Chef’s Selection of Meats, cheeses, and seasonal sides with crackers!
This bar is great if you’re looking for a less crowded place where you can make an unplanned stop on a Thursday evening. Pigtails offers two locations in the Valley, downtown Phoenix and Scottsdale. Walk-ins are welcome at both locations which means you don’t have to make reservations. Mocktails and vegan food options are available.
